Climbing Frame and Slide
We have a wonderful climbing frame that helps the children to develop their gross motor skills. These are the movements that we use to climb, crawl, slide and balance. At times we include our climbing into our role play area making it a Pirate Ship, a fire engine, the beanstalk to the Giant's Castle and Sherwood Forest to name but a few.
Sand Tray and Water Tray
Our sand and water trays allow the children to cover a number of learning experiences, from developing their fine motor skills when scooping, pouring, digging and sieving to thinking about mathematical concepts of capacity. It is also a social time where the children use and develop their sharing skills and a time to extend their vocabulary whilst chatting to their friends.
Inside and Outside Maths Area
The maths areas are used to help the children discover and explore early concepts in maths. This includes counting, number recognition, number formation or writing numbers, shape, space and measure, weight and simple number sentences or calculations using + and -.
Inside Outside Role Play Area
Our role play areas house a variety of different themes, inside we have a beautiful wooden structure that provides many opportunities. In these areas, the children are able to develop their creative skills, taking on the role of different people and acting out that role. There are always writing opportunities on offer in the areas that are linked to the theme. The children can extend their use for writing and mark making.
