  • Autumn Term Matches and Competition Round Up

    Wed 15 Jan 2020

The school year began with the Year 3/4 football tournament. A mixture of boys and girls entered the competition and although they did not make it to the knockout stages, the children played well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The Year 5/6 girls participated in their first friendly netball match at home against Priory. The girls played superbly beating their opponents. They loved the chance to play against another school.

Later in October saw the Year 5/6 girls take on Willow in the football league. Not letting the weather dampen their mood, they won 3-1. Impressive foot work by the girls and a super penalty saved in the second half kept their spirits high, even in the rain.

November saw lots of league matches take place for all the football teams from Year 3 to 6. The Year 3/4 boys and girls football teams both headed over to Western House for their first league game of the season. The boys put up a good battle but they just missed out on the win. The girls, playing on the pitch next to the boys, showed their brilliant team work and ended up winning the match.

The Year 5/6 boys football team started their campaign strong winning their first match. Although not as successful in the second match, the boys now know what they need to do to get some more wins in the Spring term.

Our Year 6 girl's football team have an unbeaten record winning all the games they played in the Autumn term. They were also lucky enough to host a friendly match which gave them some motivation for the Spring term.

Year 5 and 6  pupils participated in the Change for Life festival at Eden Girls' School. The children did a range of mini games on a rotation and tried to beat their scores on their second attempt. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the mini games. We have even been able to use some of the activities in lesson warm ups.

Year 1/2 children were lucky to go to Eden Girls School to participate in a badminton festival. This allowed the children to try out different badminton skills in various mini games. The children loved learning new skills, and for most of them it was their first opportunity to take part in a sporting festival outside of school.

A great first term! Well done everybody.

  • YEAR 4 - CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE

    Wed 08 Jan 2020
This year, the children have been learning how to play the violin. Some of the skills that have learned include using their fingers to pluck the strings (pizzicato) and using a bow (arco) to play a musical piece. They have learned how to hold the violin correctly, use a bow, play a tune in unison and change the pitch of their notes. In preparation for the concert, the children worked extremely hard to learn two songs on the violin which they performed brilliantly. The children also performed “In the Bleak Midwinter” and “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” which they sung beautifully! In their festive jumpers the children looked very smart and delivered a wonderful violin concert. We are extremely proud of them!
