  • Year 5 trip to the beach

    Sun 17 Jul 2022

Children in Year 5 enjoyed a trip to West Wittering beach on Wednesday 6th July.

It was a long trip down to the coast but the faces of the children as they saw the beach and the sea made the trip well worth it!

Particular highlights of the day included paddling in the sea (some children even spotted some fish!)  and enjoying a lovely refreshing ice lolly.

It was perfect weather for a beach trip and Mrs Girle commented on the impeccable behaviour of the children throughout the day. Well done Year 5!

  • Beale Park - Year 2

    Thu 14 Jul 2022

Year 2 had an exciting time visiting Beale Park as part of their Science topic – living things and animals including humans. During the trip, the children had an opportunity to explore the park which they found fun and stimulating. They enjoyed seeing the wildlife really closely and the train ride which added more fun to their trip. In addition, the children loved exploring the park playground which they thoroughly enjoyed.

  • Wellington Country Park Trip - Year 4

    Thu 14 Jul 2022

Year 4 had an exciting time on their trip to Wellington Country Park. They had a pond workshop, in which they used fishing nets to find different creatures that lurk beneath the clear waters of the park. They were then able to see them closer up and learn all about them, with the help of the lovely staff at the park. The children loved their visit to the animal farm, where they learnt all about the different qualities that a habitat needs for animals to survive and were able to see how they move and their appearance in real life. They also completed many more fun activities at the park.

  • Basil and Crew Visit

    Tue 12 Jul 2022

On Tuesday, Nursery and Reception Children were visited by Basil and Crew, who brought with them some beautiful animals!

The children were able to stroke, hold, feed and even brush the animals and loved getting so close to them.

Each of the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

  • Commonwealth Games Slough Baton Relay 2022

Wed 06 Jul 2022 Mrs Downer

We were selected to participate in the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay in Slough. Penn Wood, along with many other schools, had the privilege of being part of this fantastic event on Wednesday 6th July.

Abdul and Ayesha were carefully selected for their tremendous efforts throughout the term. Not only have they given 100% in their individual efforts, but they have supported and encouraged others to do the same, which meant they were able to embark on this fabulous journey together.

Firstly, they awaited the arrival of the baton from St Anthony's school, and there was a thriving atmosphere from the support of the Year 6 pupils. After a quick changeover, they set off on their adventures to Pheonix Academy, where they were greeted by two pupils, eagerly waiting to run their leg of the race.

The race ran from Monday, all the way through to Thursday and we were invited to enjoy the very last leg of the run, through Wexham School. We were pleasantly surprised to see the whole school had made posters and were cheering everyone through the the finishing line. It was an amazing experience and one that we won't forget in a while. During the celebration assembly, each of the schools were awarded a beautiful plaque, which is now displayed proudly at the front of the school.

Lucy Wood, an international England hockey player, gave an inspiring speech about not giving up on your dreams and talked us through the highs and lows of her career so far.

After the ceremony, the children were invited to try a range of activities with experts from the field coaching them. Events included hockey, cricket, basketball, Judo and even circus activities!

All in all, I think you'll agree, a superb celebration of sports and festivities! A special well done to Ayesha and Abdul, but what a humbling adventure to have as a school.

    Well done Penn Wood!
